Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils, 10 route d’Orange, 84230 Chateauneuf du Pape, France
Das Cuvée de mon Aieul 2009 der Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils aus Châteauneuf du Pape erhielt von Robert Parker jr. in dessen Weinpublikation The Wine Advocate Ausgabe 191 vom Oktober 2010 92-94 Punkte und folgende Beschreibung: "The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul 100% Grenache aged in tank (50%), pyramid-shaped, truncated wood cuves (40%) and barrels (10%) will not make anyone forget the 2007. The good news is that there are 1,500 cases in 2009. Already seductive and more evolved than the 2000, 2005 and 2006 were at a similar age, the deep ruby/purple-colored 2009 reveals a sweet bouquet of blueberries, black raspberries, nori (the seaweed wrapper used in sushi restaurants), grilled meats, roasted herbs and spice. Medium to full-bodied with a plump, voluptuous texture, superb purity and silky tannins it should be one of the few Mon Aieuls that will be irresistible upon release. It will evolve for 12-15+ years."
In The Wine Advocate Ausgabe Nr. 197 vom Oktober 2011 gab es 92+ Punkte und diese Verkostungsnotiz: "The dark ruby/plum 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Mon Aieul (in most years a blend of 95 to nearly 100% Grenache, aged 90% in cement tanks and the remaining 10% in demi-muids) is seductive and concentrated, with loads of plum, fig, blueberry and bouquet garni notes. With its lush, heady mouthfeel, full body, real opulence and silkiness, and some spice, this wine is on a relatively fast evolutionary track, and probably best drunk in its first 10-15 years of life."
Sweet and sour nose. Very sweet palate attack with slightly rustic tannins. Lots of acidity. No ignoring this wine! Though it has yet to develop any subtlety. Hot finish."
"There are 1,800 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Mon Aieul (100% tank-aged Grenache). It represents an awesome naked/virginal expression of Grenache from three vineyard parcels planted in sand, clay, and limestone soils. After tasting this wine on five separate occasions, I can state with certainty, it has the most saturated color of any Mon Aieul produced to date. Moreover, its perfume of blueberry liqueur, black raspberries, licorice, roasted meat juices, and lavender is incredible. Full-bodied power, a multilayered mouthfeel, tremendous purity, and awesome concentration put this wine in a class by itself. This sensational Chateauneuf du Pape is still very young, and 3-4 years of cellaring is required. It should be a modern day legend and last for nearly two decades."
